Niyet policies
Privacy policy
This explains how Niyet uses personal information when you apply, become a member or contact us.
Updated:
Information we use
We collect application and account details such as your name, email, age, country, city, language, answers about marriage and preferences, review decisions and profile information. If you choose to upload media, we store that media and its access settings. We also process authentication, security and technical records, support correspondence and records of authorised introductions.
Stripe processes payment details. Niyet uses Stripe customer and transaction references, billing location and payment status; we do not store your full card number. Avoid including sensitive information about health, religion, sexuality or other people in free-text answers or media. Contact us if you have submitted sensitive information and want it removed.
Why we use it
We use information to review your application at your request, provide membership and introductions, manage billing, answer support requests and keep the service secure. Processing needed to take steps towards or deliver membership is based on contract. Fraud prevention, access control and service security rely on legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. Records required by tax or other law are kept to meet legal obligations.
Where a separate optional use requires consent, we will ask for that consent before that use. You can withdraw consent by contacting us; this does not change the lawfulness of earlier processing. We do not use an automated decision alone to approve an application. Staff review applications and select introductions.
Who can see information
Authorised Niyet staff can review applications and member content to operate the service. Other members can see only profile information made available through an authorised introduction, according to the applicable visibility controls. Applications are not a public directory. Removing access prevents future access through Niyet, but cannot erase what a recipient has already seen or independently saved.
Our service providers include MyServer hosting, Cloudflare for private media and website infrastructure, Resend for transactional email, Stripe for payments, and Proton for support email. Providers receive information needed for their role. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to address fraud or protect people’s safety. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, an applicable transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses, must cover that transfer. You can request details from us.
Retention, cookies and security
We keep information for as long as needed for application review, membership, support and the purposes described here. After closure or a deletion request, we assess what can be erased and what must be retained for legal obligations, fraud prevention or disputes. Retained records should be limited and access restricted. Contact us for the retention period applicable to your records and to request deletion, including uploaded media.
We use essential authentication and security cookies and language settings to operate the site. Private media uses restricted access and temporary links. No system can guarantee complete security. Never send payment-card details or identity documents by ordinary support email unless a suitable secure process has been agreed.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact support using your account email; we may need proportionate verification before releasing or deleting information. We normally respond to rights requests within one month, with any lawful extension explained.
You may complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie or your local supervisory authority. The operator and contact details appear below. We will update this notice when our processing materially changes.
